Side Effects ... Read all about it!

During my Chemotherapy, it didn't occur to me that my eyes would get very dry. Since I wanted to "look good" in-order to help me "feel good", I've continued to wear my contact lenses. Well, it was great until I had an eye infection. That was painful lesson. Having to lie down in a special eye clinic, and get my eye poked. Ouch! Why didn't anyone tell me that wearing contact lenses during chemo increases the chance of eye infection. Of course it was easier to blame others, since my focus was only to feel good while coping with chemo.

Well, let me share a secret with you ... get your love ones (husband, parents and best friends) to read this website - "all the side effects you need to know and watch out for". So they can look after you.

Eye changes

* Trouble wearing contact lenses. Some types of chemotherapy can bother your eyes and make wearing contact lenses painful. Ask your doctor or nurse if you can wear contact lenses while getting chemotherapy.

* Blurry vision. Some types of chemotherapy can clog your tear ducts, which can cause blurry vision.

* Watery eyes. Sometimes, chemotherapy can seep out in your tears, which can cause your eyes to water more than usual.

If your vision gets blurry or your eyes water more than usual, tell your doctor or nurse.

Eye Problems Associated With Chemotherapy

Mesothelioma patients can face numerous chemotherapy side effects that relate to the eyes. Some of these eye problems, such as dry eyes, are fairly innocuous. Others, such as conjunctivitis (pink eye) and cataracts, are more severe. Regardless of severity, any negative symptoms of the eye witnessed after chemotherapy should be thoroughly investigated to minimize the short- and long-term effects.
